Captain Clint Dempsey does more than just play soccer and bleed for his country, Dempsey will be releasing a rap album with his friend, rapper XO. This is the first I have ever heard of Dempsey’s second career but apparently he has been rapping for a while as there are plenty of videos on YouTube of him performing. His 13 song album titled “The Redux” will “drop” later this year. Have a listen to the first single, “It’s Poppin’.” His part comes about 1:30 in.
Disclaimer: I am not a music critic and rap isn’t really my “cup of tea” when it comes to music so take my opinion with a grain of salt. After listening to this, I must admit that I thought it was going to be much worse than what it was. You can tell “Deuce” is passionate about this and he’s not terrible. Anyone who can put “Ramen” into a rap song and rhyme it gets a few points in my book. I wouldn’t say he’s great either but he does this as more of a hobby so good for Clint to trying some different hobbies and maybe look towards a future career when he retires from soccer. Maybe we can have him do the official song of the 2018 World Cup.
