Your Europa League Round of 32, Leg 2 Preview

Unlike the Champions League, the teams in the Europa League are already on their second legs. After today, we will have the final 16 teams. The draw will be tomorrow and the Round of 16 will take place on March 12 and 19. Just like with last week, we’ll preview the televised games and list the rest at the end.

Besiktas vs. Liverpool (0-1 agg.)

Liverpool comes back to the place where they made history just 10 years ago. This time, Liverpool has the advangtage at the Ataturk Stadium for their 1:00 game on FOX Sports 1.

Last week, Liverpool won on a late penalty in somewhat controversial fashion as Mario Balotelli refused to give up the ball and took the winning PK. I don’t know how it’s that controversial, it’s only been a week and everyone seems to have forgotten about it. So moving on.

This game is really going to be interesting because this is where we find out if Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers really believes that Liverpool is going for the Europa League. Liverpool has a huge game against Manchester City so does Liverpool go for advancing today or go for it on Sunday for a top four spot. Or maybe they risk it and go for both.

Tottenham vs. Fiorentina (1-1 agg.)

Like Liverpool, Tottenham is in a similar predicament. Tottenham plays against Chelsea in the Capital One Cup Final on Sunday. Does Tottenham go for advancing today or go for it on Sunday for a trophy. Or maybe they risk it and go for both. In Tottenham’s case, they have to go for the trophy on Sunday. Spurs will be playing a far better team on Sunday and will need to have their best XI out there. The game will be other 1:00 game and will be shown on FOX Sports 2.

Everton vs. Young Boys (4-1 agg.)

Everton pretty much wiped the floor with Young Boys last week so I can’t really see any excitement taking place. The struggling EPL team should still be able to keep the advantage. FOX Sports 1 will have the game at 3:05.

Feyenoord vs. Roma (1-1 agg.)

This is going to be a pretty good game. Roma, on paper, is the better team but Feyenoord has the away goal advantage at the moment so Roma is going to have to score in order to advance. Both teams believe that they can move to the Round of 16. Be sure to watch the beginning of this game. Not to make the most obvious statement out there but whoever scores the first goal will have a tremendous advantage. FOX Sports 2 will be showing the game at 3:05.
