VIDEO: Soccer manager “air humps” referee, gets ejected

We currently have no clue if MLS will play this week but we do know one thing, the Montreal Impact and their fans were celebrating all throughout the night as they eliminated Pachuca in the CONCACAF Champions League Quarterfinals. This marked the first time a Canadian team eliminated a Mexican opponent in a two-legged series. The last time a US team eliminated a Mexican opponent in a two-legged series was when the Seattle Sounders eliminated Tigres in the 2012-13 Champions League. The first and only other time was when the Kansas City Wizards eliminated Santos Laguna in the Quarterfinals of the 2002 CONCACAF Champions Cup.

The celebrations started when in the 94th minute of the game when Montreal was down 1-0 in the game and 3-2 on aggregate. When all looked lost, Montreal rookie Cameron Porter got the long pass, marched down the field and went five-hole on goalkeeper Oscar Perez to seal the draw and advance on away goals.

The 30,000 plus crowd in Montreal’s Olympic Stadium went wild. The worst team in MLS last season defied the odds last week and drew Pachuca in Mexico 2-2 after being up 2-0 and were determined to come back after allowing a PK just 20 minutes earlier. All that pressure and frustration caused Impact manager Frank Klopas to express himself by emphatically air humping the 4th official.

While Klopas instantly got ejected by the 4th official, it was an accepted consequence based on the events taking place. For Klopas, the Montreal Impact and Montreal’s fans, that was worth it.
