Chelsea/PSG and Bayern/Shakhtar, will there be upsets in Champions League today?

Day two of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 begins today and these games will test everyone involved. Both games are tied in aggregate and if yesterday is any indication, it’s anyone’s game today.

Chelsea (1st in EPL) 1-1 Paris Saint-Germain (2nd in Ligue 1)

Where: Stamford Bridge in London, England

When: 3:00 pregame, 3:45 kickoff on FOX Sports 1 (English) and ESPN Deportes (Spanish)

The stars are coming out for this game. You have the Jose Mourinho led team that consists of Diego Costa, John Terry and Eden Hazard against the Laurent Blanc led team that consists of Thiago Silva, Edinson Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Chelsea has the advantage now because they have the tiebreaker but a PSG goal can take that away.

As far as injuries are concerned, Chelsea should be good to go. Nemanja Matic looks to be back from his suspension while PSG may be without Serge Aurier and Lucas Moura.

This is going to be a tight game and I think I’m going to go with the upset and say PSG advances. Yeah Chelsea is unbeaten in Champions League and they’re unstoppable at home but there’s something about me that says PSG moves on.

Bayern Munich (1st in Bundesliga) 0-0 Shakhtar Donetsk (2nd in Ukrainian Premier League)

Where: Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany

When: 3:00 pregame, 3:45 kickoff on FOX Sports 2 (English) and FOX Deportes (Spanish)

Bayern Munich should be able to beat Shakhtar Donetsk but it’s not going to be as easy as that. Shakhtar has gone 90 minutes and kept the game at 0-0 and prevented Bayern from scoring the away goal so Shakhtar has a legit chance to pull off the upset.

On paper, Bayern still holds strong, just like last month. Bayern will likely be without Philipp Lahm, Javi Martinez, Thiago Alcântara and Medhi Benatia. Xavi Alonso is suspended as well so this will be a weaker team.

This is Shakhtar’s best chance if they want to beat Bayern Munich. If they can stay smart and not get in over their head, they can beat Bayern Munich. They only need a goal and Bayern would need two to win so it’s certainly a chance. I just think Bayern will have something in the tank and they make sure they win tonight.
