Cambridge United spending FA Cup money on toilets

Due to the draw against Manchester United, Cambridge United is earning more money in the replay than their entire season. Now we found out what Cambridge United will be using that money towards. Cambridge United will be spending the million pounds on improving the toilets in the stadium.

While that may be a departure of what many would feel to be an inappropriate usage of the money, the stadium seems in desperate need of improvement. For one thing, the stadium was built in 1923 and boast such amenities such as this.

To say things at Abbey Stadium are rather basic in terms of stadium atmosphere is an understatement. For teams like Cambridge United, they need to do everything on the cheap in order to survive. Whether it’s signing bargain basement players or renovating a piece of an old stadium in need of renovation, it’s all done through one piece at a time. A game against a world superpower like Manchester United obviously goes a long way.

Cambridge United chairman Dave Doggett said, “Hopefully we can get the stadium done and start putting in some proper toilets. Some toilets and tea bars and more hospitality – that’s what we will do.” That leads me to think the following. What exactly were the improper toilets that they have been using for 90 plus years?
