Let’s face it, the Washington Wizards have been the laughing stock in the NBA.
Former Wizard JaVale McGee had a big hand in lending to that reputation, Andray Blatche was benched for being fat, Flip Saunders was fired, and to top it all off, their current interim coach Randy Whittman doesn’t even know if he will be around next season. About the only bright spot is point guard John Wall.
Enter New Jersey Nets’ Deron Williams.
Williams was recently asked (h/t Pass The Pill) about the Wizards young point guard and being on a team that is sitting at the bottom of the Eastern Conference and had this “astute” observation.
Deron on John Wall: “He’s had a tough cast down there. I don’t want to put anybody down, but he’s not playing with the smartest guys.”

Talk about some locker room material, but there you have it. Even NBA players view the Wizards as a joke. Though it didn’t take a genius to see that.
Cleaning house recently (trading McGee to Denver and Nick Young to the Clippers) was a start, but much more is needed. This team is very young and needs some influx of veteran presence on the squad. The addition of Nene is a start, but Washington needs much more.
To see Wall being saddled with players who do not compliment him and add to the bright future the team has with Wall as their center piece, Washington will languish.
