What is Charles Barkley’s deal with San Antonio?

Charles Barkley was at it again Wednesday night during Inside the NBA.

With Danny Green on the air for a postgame interview, Barkley told it like it is and told San Antonio fans how he really feels. He hates them too.

It has been a running joke that Barkley thinks women in San Antonio are not the most attractive. But this is something that has been running now for several years. What is Barkley’s deal with San Antonio?

Barkley has no reason to hate the Spurs or the fine city of San Antonio. In fact, his greatest Playoff moment might have come when he drained a series-winning jumper in Game Six of the 1993 Western Conference Semis. If that jumper did not cement his status as MVP that year . . . well, maybe it should not have as Michael Jordan proved a few weeks later.

For his career, Barkley averaged 23.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game against the Spurs. In that 1993 Playoff series, he posted 26.2 points and 13.2 rebounds per game, including a 28-point, 21-rebound effort against the Spurs in the series clincher.

So, again, we have to ask: Why is Charles Barkley so antagonistic toward San Antonio? He insults their women and insults their RiverWalk.

One thing is for sure, Barkley is probably very happy to be in Oklahoma City for the next two games. Who knows if he will have to return to San Antonio any time soon.
