If the first few drives of this game were any indication on how interesting it would be, you probably changed the channel. If you did, you missed Pitt and Bowling Green trade returns for touchdowns.
Pitt struck first in the second quarter when Tyler Boyd, who is having himself a great game, took a punt return back 54 yards for a score to put the Panthers up 17-3.
Bowling Green fought their way back into the game with a late drive in the second quarter to go into half-time down by ten and then they got a spark to start the third quarter from Boo Boo. Boo Boo Gates that is. He took the opening kickoff of the second half 94 yards to tie the game at 17-17.
On Gates 94 yard return, Bowling Green LB DJ Lynch threw four or five punches on Pitt TE Manasseh Garner as Gates was streaking into the end zone. Both were flagged for unsportsmanlike-like penalties but for some strange reason Lynch was not ejected.
The Panthers would go on to win the game 30-27 on the strength of a 98 yard fourth-quarter TD drive and a field goal by Chris Blewitt (yep, that's his name) to finish the season at 7-6.
