Bismack Biyombo suspended without pay for first game of 2016-17

Per Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today, Toronto Raptors Center Bismack Biyombo has been suspended without pay for the first game of the 2016-17 season after picking up his fourth flagrant foul point in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Biyombo was issued his fourth flagrant foul of the playoffs, a flagrant-1, during the game on May 27 after he elbowed Cavaliers forward Kevin Love in the face while attempting an offensive put-back. Had the Raptors won Game 6, Biyombo would have been suspended for Game 7.

Biyombo, 23, is an unrestricted free agent this summer, and will have plenty of teams interested in him. He averaged 9.4 rebounds and blocked 27 shots during the postseason. However, Biyombo has said he’s willing to consider taking a hometown discount to stay in Toronto.

One thing’s for certain though, Biyombo won’t be playing in the season opener.
