Klay Thompson’s dad was too nervous to watch Game 7, so he watched Monday Night Raw instead

Mychal Thompson still gets nervous watching his son play basketball.

During his ESPN radio show Tuesday, Thompson said he was too nervous to watch Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals on Monday night, so he watched the popular wrestling program Monday Night Raw instead, according to Diamond Leung of Bay Area News Group.

Thompson’s son, Klay, scored 21 points in the Warriors’ 96-88 win. Golden State is headed back to the NBA Finals, where Thompson will try to win his second ring, just like his father.

The elder Thompson won two rings with the Los Angeles Lakers back in his day, and now his son will try to do the same with the Warriors, who will face the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 1 on Thursday.

Klay has been hot during the postseason with or without his dad watching on TV. He averaged 24.7 points in the series against the Thunder and he ranks fifth in scoring during the postseason with 26.2 points per game.
