Van Exel, who played for the Lakers, Nuggets, Mavericks, Warriors, Trail Blazers and Spurs in a 13-year NBA career, is coming off his first season as head coach of the Texas Legends in the NBA D-League. Before the D-League, he was an assistant coach for the Milwaukee Bucks during the 2013-14 season. Before that, he worked in a player development role with the Atlanta Hawks.
According to Stein, the Pacers aren’t alone in their pursuit of Van Exel.
Nick Van Exel is coming off his first season as @TexasLegends head coach in the @NBADLeague. Also hearing the Pacers aren’t his sole suitor.

“Nick the Quick” would make a great addition to McMillan’s coaching staff. We’ll see if the Pacers can close the deal.
