About Bloguin

Founded with the belief that blogs don’t have to have amateur designs, lack of functionality, inconsistent content quality, and underperforming advertising programs, Bloguin aims to give both bloggers and advertisers a best in class social media platform.

As the Internet continues to fragment into smaller niche audiences, Bloguin has recruited an elite and diverse team of existing bloggers who want to focus on producing top-notch content and not the nuisances of site maintenance, design, hosting, and advertising programs.

The response has been tremendous with over 125+ the Bloguin platform spanning an audience of over 800,000 monthly unique visitors.

In our first year of operation, Bloguin is growing at a feverish pace in all key metrics month over month. We have lofty goals in our sights and look forward at the prospect of working with you to help achieve them.

Derek started Bloguin after six years of web design and marketing experience with his two personal sites, DeROK.Net and TWolvesBlog.com.  He decided to use the techniques and tricks he'd learned throughout the years to help other bloggers and also put a dent in his massive amount of medical school debt.

When he's not building sites, creating banners, and fixing code, he can be found saving the lives of sick children in Delaware and Philadelphia.  He's currently in the middle of his residency in pediatrics and hopes to eventually specialize in oncology.

Derek's highlight as a blogger came when the Minnesota Timberwolves featured his two music videos on the Target Center scoreboard during the 2003 and 2004 playoffs.  The Wolves flew him to Minnesota in '04 to introduce that year's video and he was able to witness the T-Wolves clobber the Nuggets in Game 1 of that series.

In addition to the above interests, Derek also enjoys old-school video games, loves Lost, can quote the Shawshank Redemption by heart, considers himself to be the world's leading expert on The OC, and believes that Bill Belichick is a genius and Tom Brady is his prophet.

Ten Questions:

Favorite Nintendo video game: Super Mario Bros. 3 - Never gets old.

Favorite sports video game of all time: NHL '93 - the apex of 16-bit sports gaming

Favorite game announcer/color man: Kevin Harlan - "GOOGLY OOGLY OOGLY BABAY!!!"

Favorite studio Analyst/sportscaster: Stephen A. Smith

Favorite pro team off all time: 2003-04 Minnesota Timberwolves - KG in his prime, Sam Cassell was an absolute assassin, finally breaking out of the first round, Game 7 vs. the Kings...  Amazing.

Great sports moment seen in person: The Rock winning the 2000 Royal Rumble in MSG.  By the way, you do know that Stephen A. Smith answer was a joke, right?

Most impressive/unbreakable record in sports: Cal Ripken's 2632 consecutive games played streak.  Nobody's breaking that.

Best sports movie of all time: Rocky IV - "During this fight, I've seen a lot of changing, in the way you feel about me, and in the way I feel about you. In here, there were two guys killing each other, but I guess that's better than twenty million. I guess what I'm trying to say, is that if I can change, and you can change, everybody can change!"

Worst product you bought because it had an athlete spokesperson: I didn't buy it, but I did play ShaqFu once. Horrendous.

Greatest sports movie head coach of all time: I'm guessing Coach Eric Taylor from Friday Night Lights doesn't count since it's a TV show, so I'll have to go with Keanu Reeves in Hardball.  The unintentional comedy was off the charts.

I've known Derek for 5+ years now through our mutual diseased affliction love for the Minnesota Timberwolves.  About three years ago, with nothing more than a dollar and a dream, we started TWolvesBlog.com, which then eventually morphed into the creation that is the Bloguin Network you see today.  Dave is a world-class (in his own mind) blogger who can be found on TWolves Blog writing under the pen-name "College Wolf."  The name goes back many years in Timberwolves forum posting lore, and he's been known to give many an opinion on all things Timberwolves and sport (and is mostly always wrong).

When Dave is not busy blogging or helping run the day-to-day operations of Bloguin, he may or may not be found putting his double majors in Economics and Business Finance to good use.  He may not be a real doctor like Derek, but he'll tell you that he has the prescription to fix what ails the Timberwolves.  Whether or not you choose to listen to him is up to you.

Dave also loves movies, music, and playing sports.  Doing any of those things for a living would be a dream come true, but furthering the advancement of Bloguin is a close second.  He also enjoys spending time with his family and friends, especially his son and future NBA point guard, CW Jr.  (Just gotta teach him to play tough "D" and shoot left handed threes at above a 40% clip, and this plan can't possibly fail!)

Ten Questions:

Favorite Nintendo video game:
Twin Eagle baby!

Favorite sports video game of all time: How is the correct answer to this NOT Tecmo Super Bowl?

Favorite game announcer/color man: Gus Johnson. He has no equal.

Favorite studio Analyst/sportscaster: Chris Webber - The man is will give it to you straight, and how can you not love his million dollar smile?  It's clearly the best smile in the NBA...

Favorite pro team off all time: The 2003-2004 Minnesota Timberwolves.  Let's just move on...

Great sports moment seen in person: The 1998 NFC Championship Game, in which the Minnesota Vikings lost a heartbreaker to the Atlanta Falcons for the right to go to the Super Bowl.  Oh wait, you said "great moment."  Sigh.

Most impressive/unbreakable record in sports: Joe DiMaggio's 56 game hitting streak.  Respect.

Best sports movie of all time: He Got Game. Ray Jesus Shuttlesworth Allen for the win.

Worst products you bought because they had an athlete spokesperson: Michael Jordan Hanes underwear.  Considering I was only like 7 years old at the time, they totally didn't fit at all.  Epic Fail.

Greatest sports movie head coach of all time: Al Pacino in Any Given Sunday
