Kyle O’Quinn’s starting campaign

With Nikola Vucevic out with a back injury the past four games, Orlando needed someone to step in. Fresh off an injury himself, three-year veteran Kyle O’Quinn has answered the call. In Vucevic’s absence, Kyle O’Quinn is contributing more than 13 points, one block, one steal and almost five rebounds per game in just 17.5 minutes per game. Sure some […]

Aaron Gordon optimistic about speedy return

“Rookie Aaron Gordon was encouraged by Kevin Durant’s quick return because both had foot surgery performed by the same doctor, a source said.”

Marc J. Spears, Yahoo! Sports

Gordon has been out since November 15 when it was discovered he had a fracture in his foot. He had surgery about a week later and has been out ever since.

Power Rankings Roundup: Wanting more

Apparently you can have too much of a good thing if you are a power ranker. The Magic’s impressive 3-3 road trip is only impressive because of the low expectations everyone had for this team. That does not make the accomplishment any worse for it getting done. It was a big step forward for the […]

When we whisper “Playoffs”

Excuse some people for feeling a bit optimistic about the Magic after a 3-3 West Coast road trip. This young team, fighting through a road-heavy first quarter of the schedule and multiple injuries, has emerged perhaps a bit ahead of schedule at 9-14 on the season. That is not a great record, but it is […]

Ben Gordon’s time . . . or else

There was no denying the noise surrounding the Magic’s surprising signing of Ben Gordon. Even the Magic’s pro-team broadcast acknowledged there was a lot of head scratching over the signing and the risk that came with it. Here was a player who had a bad reputation around the league after a turbulent season in Charlotte […]

Magic finish with a flourish, complete 3-3 road trip

Orlando had lost its lead yet again. For the second straight night, the Magic saw a 17-point lead evaporate and had to come together and finish. Not an easy thing to do. Maybe those old narratives about this team have to finally, and peacefully, die. The Magic did it again. They wavered, but they did […]

Tobias Harris’ work with 3-pointer paying off

If Tobias Harris was going to get his payday this summer, he was going to have to put in some work and improve some of the weak points in his game. Even with Harris able to put up points at a decent clip, he had to learn some efficiency. He had to improve his defense. […]

It takes a team . . . and Tobias Harris

The Magic saw a 17-point lead dwindle to four points. They needed a big shot. They needed someone to force the issue some and back up some relatively solid defense. They needed something to turn the tide and finish out this win. Every finish does not have to be perfect. Just like every 48 minutes […]
