Chris Chelios will be a hockey analyst for Fox Sports 1

Fox Sports 1 is building a rather impressive collection of analysts for hockey fans. With the acquisition of Jay Onrait and Dan O'Toole from TSN, the network made it clear that hockey was in their long-term plans. Now Fox Sports 1 has hired Chris Chelios as their new hockey analyst, as reported by Steve Lepore

Nice hire, Fox Sports 1. Chelios will now counter NBC's Jeremy Roenick, Mike Milbury and Pierre McGuire and ESPN's … we can't even finish that sentence. ESPN employs Barry Melrose, but let's not pretend the network covers hockey.

According to SI.com, Chelios will cover the 2014 Olympics and will work through the end of the Stanley Cup playoffs for FS1. He'll have a camera inside his house to discuss breaking news as it happens.

As a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame, Chelios is certainly qualified to discuss the sport. Though he's been serving as the Adviser to Hockey Operations in Detroit, Chelios should still have plenty of time to break down the Olympic tournament, trades and the playoffs.

How will Chelios perform as an analyst? We'll have to wait and see, but he's certainly one of the most qualified individuals to talk about his perspective in the NHL considering he suited up in 1,651 career games.
