It feels like the 2013-14 season just started, but here we are with our seventh installment of Hockey Fights of the Week. So far we've seen a little bit of everything. We've seen fights which are early candidates for best of the season, fights which cast a negative light on the sport and fights which can barely be classified as fights.
What does the seventh week of the season bring?
5. Steve Ott (BUF) vs David Clarkson (TOR) – Nov 16
This embrace between Ott and Clarkson wasn't much of a fight, but it was good enough to crack this week's list due to slim pickings. This may be an early candidate for the "Fight With Fewest Punches Thrown" award.
4. Cory Sarich (COL) vs Chris Stewart (STL) – Nov 14
The Avalanche and the Blues don't like each other very much. The reason why is debated, but the result is a feisty encounter with plenty of scraps. As for the tilt between Sarich and Stewart…well…let's just classify it as a beating.
3. Cody McLeod (COL) vs Ryan Reaves (STL) – Nov 14
Need more proof that the Avs and Blues aren't the best of friends? Of course you do. Here Reaves and McLeod drop the mitts and once again it's the skater in blue and yellow who comes out on top.
2. Eric Nystrom (NSH) vs Tanner Glass (PIT) – Nov 15
Nystrom starts this fight strong but fades in a hurry after Glass regains his balance. Nystrom goes from throwing punches to having his helmet blind his vision. This might not be the best fight you've seen claim the second spot on a Hockey Fights of the Week list, but it's far from the worst.
1. Luke Gazdic (EDM) vs Brian McGrattan (CGY) – Nov 16
McGrattan is a name you should be pretty familiar with if you're an avid hockey fights follower. If you're not familiar with McGrattan, you should be. Why? Watch this fight between Gazdic and McGrattan and all of your questions will be answered.
