OmarkReturn

Linus Omark may return to the NHL

Linus Omark might be returning to the NHL in the very near future. According to the Edmonton Journal, Omark is looking to make a comeback in the NHL after spending 2012-13 skating with EV Zug in Switzerland.

The Edmonton Oilers still own Omark's rights, but is that where we should expect Omark to land? Don't bet on it.

The report from the Edmonton Journal sources an article from a Swedish paper which claims Omark is interested in playing in the NHL, but his return probably won't be with the Oilers. They believe the Oilers are willing to trade Omark's rights to a different club. Though nothing is official or confirmed, a deal sending Omark back to the NHL is believed to be closer now than ever before.

If you're unfamiliar with Omark, here's what you need to know. He's a small forward (5'10", around 175 pounds) who struggled to find playing time with the Oilers in 2011-12. In 65 NHL games, Omark has eight goals and 22 assists. Though his offensive potential is exciting, Omark was often benched in favor of larger, more powerful forwards.

Omark is best known for his work in the shootout. Remember this goal from 2010?

Now that's exciting. Here's a few more goals from Omark's resume.

It's no mystery that several NHL teams around the NHL would be willing to give Omark a shot. Will a trade come? Will the Oilers try to squeeze Omark into their plans again? Is this report nothing but hot air?
