Hockey Fights of the Week: 3/4 – 3/10

This installment of Hockey Fights of the Week could have been renamed Knockouts of the Week. While fights around the NHL are a common occurrence, punches that buckle an opponent are rare and a sight worth beholding.

5. Pierre-Cedric Labrie (TB) vs. Deryk Engelland (PIT) – Mar. 4

We'll admit, this week's list gets off to a bit of a slow start. That's what happens when you save the best for last. Engelland wins this one in a fight where 95% of the punches thrown appeared to have missed their target.

4. Zac Rinaldo (PHI) vs. Shawn Thornton (BOS) – Mar. 9

This isn't the first fight we've featured involving Zac Rinaldo and we can say with a fairly large degree of certainty that it won't be the last. This time he battles Shawn Thornton in a scrap that clearly goes the Bruins way. At one point Rinaldo resembles a Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robot as Thornton catches him with a couple of uppercuts.

3. Roman Polak (STL) vs. Kyle Clifford (LA) – Mar. 5

Roman Polak doesn't drop the gloves very often. When he does, it usually leads to a memorable moment, as seen in last year's playoff series against San Jose. This time he takes on Kyle Clifford, and though Polak lands a few big blows, Clifford wins by a KO.

2. Mark Fraser (TOR) vs. Adam McQuaid (BOS) – Mar. 7

While there isn't a knockout in this tilt, the Fraser – McQuaid scrap is deserving of the second spot on this week's list due to the length of the scrap and the number of punches which actually appeared to find their mark.

1. David Dziurzynski (OTT) vs. Frazer McLaren (TOR) – Mar. 6

If you're a regular reader here at PDL, you probably knew this was coming. We even dedicated an entire post to this scrap. That being said, this knockout is worth covering twice. Frazer McLaren may never have a better fight and Dziurzynski is probably going to be seeing McLaren in his nightmares for the foreseeable future.
