Corey Perry doesn't exactly have the best reputation for a goal scorer. So far this year he has nine goals and 15 assists, and he'll probably have a nice hefty suspension to go along with it after this hit in Tuesday night's game between the Anaheim Ducks and Minnesota Wild:
It's obviously a late hit, as proven by the interference call that was the initial whistle. Perry led with his shoulder directly into the head of Jason Zucker, who remained down on the ice for several minutes while the officials were trying to figure out if this needed to be interference or something a bit more. Perry wound up with a five minute interference and a 10-minute game misconduct. How large of a suspension he will get (if any, it is the NHL) is anyone's guess. On January 3rd, 2009 he was suspended for a hit on Claude Giroux, so this won't be the first time he's been on the hot seat. Looks like the former Hart and Rocket Richard trophy winner won't be exempt from a chat with Shanny.
