FOAM PARTY

AHL game canceled due to rave party

On Saturday night, the Adirondack Phantoms (affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers) were scheduled to take on the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (affiliate of the New York Islanders) at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport. However, the game was canceled due to unsafe ice conditions.

Why was the ice unsafe for play? Great question.

On Friday evening, Webster Bank Arena held a rave party, which was put on by Foam ‘N Glow. The company prides themselves on being the “world’s largest foam party,” according to their website. The chemicals that were used to make the foam seeped through the floor that was protecting the ice and damaged the playing surface underneath.

Both coaches decided that it would be in their players’ best interests to reschedule the game and not risk injury. The American Hockey League has rescheduled the game for 7:00 PM Monday night at Webster Bank Arena, which gives the ice crew roughly 48 hours to get the playing surface up to standard.

Let this be a lesson to other arenas that may be considering hosting a foam party the night before a hockey game – just say “no.”
