AHL game sets new record for largest U.S. crowd at an indoor hockey game

The Syracuse Crunch and Utica Comets are in the record books after playing in front of the largest indoor crowd in U.S. professional hockey history. The AHL Frozen Dome Classic hosted by the Crunch drew a crowd of 30,715, breaking the mark set by the Tampa Bay Lightning of 28,138 back in 1996 when they played at Tropicana Field.

The huge crowd is also the second-largest in AHL history. The largest was a crowd 45,653 at an outdoor game held at Citizens Bank Park.
