Alex Ovechkin had quite the dive against the Canadiens

The NHL may have their first act of embellishment worthy of a review after Alex Ovechkin tumbled to the ice in hilarious fashion when the Capitals took on the Canadiens. PK Subban’s stick brushed up against Ovechkin, sending the forward sprawling on the ice. Subban was hilariously called for hooking on the play.

Here’s the dive in question, via Reddit Hockey:

Maybe Ovechkin thought Subban’s stick was heading for his face and he instinctively recoiled away? That may be the only defense Ovie has for what appears to be the worst dive so far in 2014-15.

The NHL’s new system designed to prevent plays like this states the first act will earn a warning and then additional actions will result in fines.
