Avalanche top three games of the season come against Chicago

The Colorado Avalanche have had a tough start to their season after going just 2-4-4 over their first 10 games. They head home to host the New York Islanders tomorrow night on a current 2-game losing streak, dropping an overtime game against Jets last Sunday and losing in a shootout to the Sharks last night. The team’s slow start hasn’t made ticket prices suffer on the secondary market, however, as Avalanche tickets at home this season fall just below the $100 average.

The secondary market average for tickets to see the Avalanche play at the Pepsi Center this season is $98.52, which marks a 37.2% jump from last season’s average of $71.77. Interestingly enough, the team will play its three cheapest home games in the coming week against the Islanders, Canucks and Ducks. The Avalanche’s three most expensive home games will all be played against the Blackhawks, with each game owning a secondary average above $150.

The most expensive home game on the Avalanche schedule this season will be played against Chicago on December 27. The average price for Avalanche vs Blackhawks tickets to the late-December game is $167.19 on the secondary market, 69.7% above season average, with get-in price starting at $37. The first of the Blackhawks’ three visits to the Pepsi Center will occur on November 26, where secondary average is currently listed at $155.51 and get-in price starts at $40. The two teams will meet for the final time in Colorado on April 11. That game currently owns an average price of $151.18 and get-in of $44.

The Avalanche will host their cheapest game of the season against the Islanders tomorrow night. The average price for Avalanche vs Islanders tickets is just $43 on the secondary market, 56.3% below season average, with a get-in price of $9. The Canucks travel to the Pepsi Center next Tuesday and serve as the Avalanche’s second cheapest opponent at home this season. The average price for Avalanche vs Canucks tickets is $51.49 and get-in price starts at $7. The Ducks will play the Avalanche on Sunday and secondary average is listed at $58.42. Get-in price for the game starts at $11.

The season is young and each team is still a contender, but the Avalanche will need to turn things around soon if they hope to contend for a second consecutive playoff berth. Their poor play to begin the season hasn’t done much harm to their secondary market success, however, as they have continue to see ticket prices rise at the Pepsi Center this season.
