Daniel Alfredsson may still return to the Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings have completed roughly 10% of their 2014-15 season and there’s still no telling if Daniel Alfredsson will be joining them. The club is still optimistic, but Alfredsson’s return weighs heavily on the health of his back. The 41-year-old is reportedly improving, but apparently he’s not there quite yet.

As seen in The Detroit News, the Red Wings are holding steady and GM Ken Holland is being patient:

“Nothing has changed from my perspective. We’re not putting any timetable on it. Daniel said he was feeling good but is not to the point where he can talk to me about what would be his next move. I haven’t heard from Daniel (since). We’re giving him time. Nothing has changed.”

Alfredsson wants to return, but his back may not cooperate. Things were progressing very smoothly, but the veteran forward aggravated his back during a team skate.
