The news regarding Dominik Hasek’s induction into the Hall of Fame took a while to reach the goaltender. Here’s another classic instance where an athlete ignored a phone call which held important news.
When Hasek received the phone call, it came from a number he wasn’t familiar with so he was a little reluctant to answer. Ultimately deciding to answer, the connection on the call wasn’t the best and it was difficult to make out what the other party was saying. Hasek told the caller to “Call me later” and hung up.

Obviously the news eventually reached Hasek, but it’s amusing to think that the goaltender nearly passed on the call and the thought that it might be news on the Hall of Fame never crossed his mind.
