Hockey Fights of the Week: 3/24 – 3/30

Some weeks we feature close, tightly-contested fights where it’s difficult to pick a winner. This is not one of those weeks. This week you’ll see five lopsided battles where you almost feel sorry for the loser – almost.

5. Jarome Iginla (BOS) vs Zac Rinaldo (PHI) – March 30

The best part of this fight might be the hit which started it all. Rinaldo’s check wiped out two Bruins and an official, but then he drops the gloves and lands some huge blows on Iginla.

4. Patrick Wey (WAS) vs Rich Clune (NSH) – March 30

Clune throws approximately 261 rights before Wey even has a chance to collect himself. By the time Wey realizes what hit him, he’s falling to the ice. Big win by Clune.

3. Brandon Bollig (CHI) vs Chris Neil (OTT) – March 28

Give Bollig credit for taking an absolute beating from the hands of Neil. The fight almost ends as soon as it starts, but Bollig pops back up. Interesting decision, as Neil takes advantage and pummels the Blackhawk.

2. Tom Sestito (VAN) vs Patrick Bordeleau (COL) – March 27

We’ve praised Bordeleau as one of the best fighters in the NHL. We’ve always pitied any skater who decides to drop the gloves with him. This time it’s Sestito who discovers what a horribly poor decision it is to step up against Bordeleau.

1. Travis Moen (MON) vs Kevan Miller (BOS) – March 24

Now the number one beating of the week. Moen was upset by a hit from Miller and decided to challenge him. Brave move, but it didn’t really work out. Miller catches Moen with two huge punches, but it’s the first one which did most of the damage.
