Islanders are ditching their black third jerseys

Sunday, March 23rd will mark the end of an era. The end of an ugly, ugly era. The New York Islanders will be wearing their black third jerseys for the final time when they host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday afternoon.

No real surprise here. As the Islanders prepare to move to Brooklyn, they’re ditching an alternate uniform which has ridiculed since the day it arrived. Remember the unveiling which didn’t exactly go according to plan as both fans and analysts were left underwhelmed? The club is retiring these sweaters just a few years later and will likely unveil new uniforms in the very near future.
