Ad for Sabres Style girls’ night out is kind of bad

You can't blame the Buffalo Sabres marketing department for trying anything to sell tickets. Their team is just atrocious this year, but they still have to make money. Ladies' night promotions are a thing — the Washington Capitals have been doing them for years — and over 30% of the league's fans are women, so advertising directly at them makes sense. This is just kind of a bad way to do it:


At first, I looked at it and went "oh, great, lipstick and pink. Way to try," Then I thought about it, and the words of a self professed hockey mom came to mind.

"You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig."

When an ad causes people to think of that… perhaps it's time to change that lipstick to a blender or a vacuum or something else that ladies'll pay attention to but that won't cause people to think of unfortunate metaphors for your…

Oh, wait. Those don't exactly work either, do they?
