Mike Babcock is not answering questions about his future

Where will Mike Babcock coach beyond 2014-15? That’s the question everyone has been asking and Babcock is tired of talking about the matter. Following his team’s morning skate, the Red Wings announced he will not be answering any questions regarding his coaching plans for the future.

Don’t the Red Wings know that by restricting the question it’s only going to cause more media speculation?

You can read into this a lot of different ways. The constant debate over Babcock’s future could be viewed as a distraction, especially considering so many believe he is on his way out. Still, it seems like this will only add more fuel to the “Babcock is a goner” movement now that the team won’t let anyone talk about it. If the idea is to sweep the story under the rug, having the team’s PR put an end to the questions may not be the best way to go about doing it. Babcock may be getting tired of talking about it, but his reluctancy to talk about it makes it seem like all of the rumors may be valid.

Where will Babcock end up beyond 2014-15? If all of the rumors are to be believed, the destination may be Toronto. There are a ton of other possibilities, but it seems like his reign as the longest-tenured coach in the NHL will be coming to an end.
