NHL: Stanley Cup Playoffs-Anaheim Ducks at Dallas Stars

Series recap: Ducks stun the Stars

If this series was going to be “stunning,” many thought it would come from Stars beating the top-seed Ducks. But not so fast. If ever a series was about one deciding game, this would be it. The Stars were up in Game 6, thinking they were going to Game 7, and then it was over. Just like that, the Ducks flexed their muscles and destroyed the Stars’ playoff hopes.

Here is the recap of one of the strangest series in this years playoffs.

Best Performance

NHL: Stanley Cup Playoffs-Anaheim Ducks at Dallas Stars

Ryan Getzlaf

Getzlaf always shows up in the playoffs and this series was no different. Oh wait, it was, because he played with a broken face basically. After taking a slapshot in Game 1, Getzlaf only missed a game. He had seven points – 3 goals, 4 assists. Even more ridicious, he shot 25% in the series.

Biggest goat

Kari Lehtonen

He was just terrible in this series. A total of 25 goalies played in this year’s playoffs. Lehtonen ranked 21st with a horrid .885 save percentage.

Game that turned the tide

Game 6 is a game people in Dallas will remember for a long, long time.

The Stars blew a 4-2 lead with under three minutes to go. They gave up the tying goal with less than 30 seconds left and then they lost in OT.

Pretty cool that the Duck’s Ben Lovejoy was mic’d up for it:

Honorable mention to Corey Perry gifs, he got the crap kicked out of him in this series

What’s next for the Ducks?

The Ducks will get the survivor of Game 7 between the the Sharks and Kings. They will have home-ice for what promises to be another Western Conference blood bath.

What’s next for the Stars?

Brutal loss for the Stars and their fans in this series. They thought they had Game 7 forced, but it just wasn’t meant to be. Jamie Benn was outstanding in his first big role as Stars captain in the playoffs. Tyler Seguin played well too. Dallas has a great young group. With the right moves in the offseason, they can become a favorite next season. One early name to throw out in Dallas: Ryan Miller.
