In their “study” they named the Toronto Maple Leafs the number one fan base. It turns out they are also the saddest. If you missed our first installment of the NHL’s Saddest Fans, here’s what you missed. Now, on to this week’s group of sad sacks.

3. Vancouver got trounced at home by the Coyotes. Since Sportsnet does all the games, they usually catch a good video. Here is a gif of a Canucks fan losing it:

2. An underrated portion of the stunned genre is the “lean.” It is when fans are so into the game, and their team gives up goal they violently lean back in their seats as if their body is snapping them back to reality. Usually this happens at home games, but the Toronto Maples Leafs are the expection to the rule. Watch Leaf fans “lean” after the Sabres score a goal in their 6-2 win. 1. Maple Leaf nation is a mess home or away. Leaf fans are the best, and the saddest. Is there anything sadder than throwing your jersey on the ice because your team sucks?
