The Red Wings are apparently going to offer Dan Boyle a nice contract

The Red Wings are apparently going to offer Dan Boyle a hefty contract as he prepares to hit free agency. The deal is believed to be worth $11 million over two years. Boyle is coming off of a six-year, $40 million deal with the San Jose Sharks and most recently had his rights traded to the New York Islanders. Boyle reportedly isn’t interested in the Islanders and thus teams like the Red Wings are after his services.

Detroit really could use some help at defense, but is Boyle the answer? He’s certainly going to be one of the more expensive options on the market and at age 37, he also isn’t the youngest. Still, the Red Wings need to address their D and it’s going to cost them to do it.
