Toronto Maple Leafs’ four untouchables may surprise you

As mentioned earlier, the Maple Leafs are rumored to be shopping major players (and a majorly expensive player) to the Panthers for the first overall pick. That isn’t all that GM Dave Nonis is reportedly considering.

As a follow-up to that terrible trade rumor (Phaneuf, Kadri, and the Leafs’ eighth overall pick to Florida for the first overall pick and Ed Jovanovski), it seems that the Maple Leafs are looking to re-tool, actively shopping players to other teams willing to talk. There are four players, though, who are untouchable. Phil Kessel, obviously, will not be dealt. Jonathan Bernier won’t be traded, and neither will Morgan Rielly and Tyler Bozak.

So, in summary, the rest of the team – including James Van Reimsdyk, Dion Phaneuf, Nazem Kadri, and Nikolai Kulemin – is being shopped, but not Tyler Bozak. Sorry to the Leafs fans who were hoping to dump Colton Orr or Dave Bolland off on some unsuspecting team. I have a feeling that one of the bigger names will go first in this fire sale.
