Vancouver’s Green Men are retiring

Vancouver Canucks superfans Force and Sully, better known as the Green Men, are calling it quits after the 2014-15 season. The club uploaded the video where the emotional unofficial mascots made their announcement and thanked the fans for helping make this crazy ride a reality.

Nice Field of Dreams reference by Kevin Bieksa.

The Green Men have been fun to follow over the years. We’ve seen a ton of pranks and stunts which have even forced the toughest of opposing players to break a smile. ESPN even dedicated an E:60 to the duo.

This whole thing could have been really dumb and really annoying, but give credit to the two guys in the suits. They’ve continually rolled out clever ways to annoy the opponent.

The handstand on the seats is particularly impressive.

So long, Green Men. Unlike many superfans out there, you were actually entertaining. However, all good things come to an end and who knows how long the shtick would continue to be so enjoyable. It’s better to walk away while people still enjoy your act than to become an annoying presence which just won’t leave.

Besides, hockey games are probably a lot more enjoyable when you can actually see what’s going on.
