The LA Kings are scrambling to secure a playoff spot and that has resulted in the media and fans throwing around the “must-win game” expression. The Kings have 18 games left on their schedule and they’re going to need to secure points in a vast majority of those games in order to comfortably make the playoffs.
What does Darryl Sutter think about the Kings’ schedule and the idea that their remaining schedule is full of must-win games? In typical Sutter fashion, he offered up some profound thoughts.

“There’s no ‘must’ anywhere. You don’t have to do anything. Just try and win. There’s no such thing as a ‘must-win.’ Nobody gets locked up or thrown in the ocean or anything. I’m not into that. It’s just a game.”
Deep stuff. This may be the best example of a Darryl Sutterism we’ve heard this season. The topic of winning a hockey game resulted in an answer involving being thrown in the ocean. Amazing.
Sutter’s answer that “it’s just a game” may rub some die-hard fans the wrong way, but give him credit for having life’s priorities straight.
