TSN’s trade deadline coverage featured Tweets from hockey fans scrolling at the bottom of the screen. You can probably guess where this story is going, but a fan sent in an inappropriate Tweet about Joffrey Lupul which made it on the air.

The Tweet wasn’t as bad as Dustin Penner’s the other day, but it obviously isn’t appropriate for live television.
It didn’t take long for Lupul to catch on. He quickly voiced his displeasure.

It’s pretty obvious that the feed was automated, but it is pretty remarkable that no one was keeping an eye on things or at least approving of the Tweets which made it on the air. Countless of other events with live Tweets have proven how disastrous things can turn if no one is behind the wheel moderating.
TSN sent out an apology:
Earlier today, an inappropriate and disrespectful tweet was erroneously aired. As soon as it was flagged, we immediately removed it. (1/3)
