Report: Islanders will unveil black and white alternate jerseys

The New York Islanders are starting a new chapter in their history when the puck drops for 2015-16 in Brooklyn. The move has ushered in a lot of changes, including the reported unveiling of new alternate jerseys.

According to Islanders Point Blank, new black and white uniforms will be unveiled on September 21st and fans will be able to start purchasing them on September 23rd.

As soon as the Islanders announced their move to Brooklyn, fans questioned whether the team would attempt to adopt a black and white color scheme which would match the Brooklyn Nets. The Isles have used black as a main uniform scheme in the past (unsuccessfully, we’ll add), but now it sounds like they’ll take on a completely new alternate look.

What would the Islanders look like in black and white? The good folks over at Islanders Insight provided several concepts and Icethetics created the logo seen at the top of this article. The Islanders Insight crew has a few concepts which are black and orange, but all rumors indicate the new look will be black and white.

Ideally, the new alternate would introduce the color scheme without moving too far from the team’s traditions. Perhaps the logo at the top of this page would be the way to go? At the very least, here’s hoping the Isles don’t try to go too far or too bold with their new look.
