Report: Slava Voynov to begin serving 90-day jail sentence

Slava Voynov recently pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor count of corporal injury to his spouse. Voynov’s agent reportedly spoke with Sports-Express and stated that Voynov will begin serving his 90-day jail sentence on Monday, July 6th.

The Los Angeles County Superior Court also gave Voynov a $700 fine, eight hours of community service and instructed he take a 52-week domestic violence course.

The NHL is continuing its own investigation into the Voynov situation and the defenseman remains indefinitely suspended. Meanwhile, the Kings aren’t commenting. Voynov’s future in the NHL remains undetermined, but many have already taken a firm stance against a potential reinstatement.

The Kings are a mess. Aside from the Voynov situation, the organization also saw Jarret Stoll charged with cocaine possession and then they terminated Mike Richards’ contract after what was rumored to be an off-ice incident involving oxycodone. The club has mentioned they plan to have someone come in during training camp to talk to the team about drugs, but you have to wonder what more could be done to shape things up in LA.
