The Buffalo Sabres have a 96% season ticket renewal rate

The Buffalo Sabres announced that the club has had 96% of season ticket holders renew their tickets for the upcoming 2015-16 season. This is the 10th straight season which the club’s renewal rate has eclipsed the 90% mark. The Sabres have capped their season ticket sales in 2015-16 at 16,000 tickets.

“The fact that we had such a high rate of renewal from our season ticket holders is really a testament to the direction our organization is headed,” Sabres president Russ Brandon said. “There’s a tremendous amount of excitement surrounding our team and we can’t wait to get on the ice.”

The renewal doesn’t come as much of a surprise. The Sabres drew an average of 18,580 fans a game last season, which ranked 13th in the league, despite being the worst club in the NHL. Buffalo was downright awful last season and they still had an impressive attendance number.

The team made numerous strides forward this offseason which should excite fans. They have a face of the franchise in Jack Eichel, the second overall pick in this year’s draft, who’s going to be worth the price of admission himself. They made trades to acquire a number one goalie and center in Robin Lenher and Ryan O’Reilly, respectively. They’ll also see a boost from having Evander Kane healthy in their lineup after trading for him last season. The team should be be closer to a playoff team as opposed to basement dwellers.

Sabres fans have something to cheer for this season and their ticket sales numbers reflect that.
