Video: Tom Wilson crushes Lubomir Visnovsky

There are big hits and then there are monstrous hits. Tom Wilson’s crushing blow on Lubomir Visnovsky falls into the latter category. Visnovsky was forced to leave the game with an injury and Wilson was sent to the penalty box for charging.

You can make a pretty solid case that Wilson deserved the two-minute infraction, but that’s the only discipline he deserves. While there was an injury on the play, that shouldn’t factor into the decision on whether Wilson should receive a call from the NHL.

Visnovsky didn’t have the puck, but Wilson’s timing wasn’t too bad. There was a bit of contact to the head, but it looks like Visnovsky didn’t help his own cause by leaning forward slightly at the moment of impact.
