It was initially reported that Zack Kassian suffered minor injuries in an early Sunday morning car accident, but it has been later been updated by GM Marc Bergevin that Kassian has suffered a broken nose and a broken foot.
The Montreal Gazette originally came out with the report and had this info about the accident:
“A 20-year old woman was driving the truck, which ran into a tree on Clanranald Ave. A 24-year-old man and 18-year-old woman were passengers in the vehicle, said Montreal police spokesperson Manuel Couture.
Speed did not appear to be a factor in the crash, which took place around 6 a.m., said Couture.
“(Kassian) was all bloodied up and stuff. He was in a daze,” said Steve Petrenko, a resident on the street where the accident took place. He described the man as a big guy, who he thought looked familiar.”
Kassian was recently acquired by the Canadiens in a deal for Brandon Prust. This is no way to start the year off on a good foot and from reports courtesy of Bob McKenzie of TSN, he says that this may be a much more complicated situation then initially reported.
It should also be noted that Kassian is in the last year of a deal that pays him $3.5 million dollars. For money like that, the Canadiens are going to be smart with their next move as this situation seems to have many moving pieces.
UPDATE:
Kassian suspended without pay and enters Stage 2 of NHL-NHLPA joint Behavioral Modification program. Doctors will decide when/if he returns.

Obviously a bigger story is developing and this tweet shows that it is all moving fluidly.
