Video: Steve Downie pushes an official, earns a misconduct

Steve Downie broke one of the most obvious rules in the NHL – never push/hit an official. Downie apparently forgot this rule as he knocked an official to the ice while trying to stir things up with the Red Wings.

He received a 10-minute misconduct and avoided being tossed from the game as the officials believed Downie’s blunder wasn’t intentional. He later went on to pick up yet another 10-minute misconduct in the third period.
