Washington Capitals Game 5 At Verizon Center Least Expensive Ticket Remaining In Series

It looked as if the theme in the first round for the Washington Capitals was going to be comebacks. In Game 2, Washington erased a 3-1 deficit to complete a 4-3 comeback victory. Then, in Game 3, the Capitals scored with 6:06 remaining in the third period to force overtime in a game where they were outplayed for the majority of the contest.

But their luck ultimately ran short, as the Islanders got a goal from John Tavares 15 seconds into the overtime period to win, 2-1, and thus take a 2-1 series lead.

According to TiqIQ.com, Washington Capitals tickets for Game 4 at Nassau Coliseum have an average ticket price of $228.41 with a get-in price of $120. Washington needs to play well on the road to shift the series momentum, otherwise they’ll return home with an unforgiving 3-1 series deficit. The Game 5 and Game 7 average ticket prices at the Verizon Center are $160.44 (get-in price $45) and $248.65 (get-in price $69), respectively. Game 6 at the Nassau Coliseum has the highest average ticket price remaining in the series at $383.49 with a get-in price of $124, which is partly attributed to the fact that these are the final games being played at the “Old Barn” before the Islanders move to Brooklyn next season.

The Capitals must be annoyed after wasting such a strong performance from goaltender Braden Holtby. Holtby, who missed Game 2 due to illness, saved 40 out of 42 shots (SV% .952) but couldn’t react fast enough on the Tavares rebound-winner in overtime. Holtby made the initial pad save, but when trying to poke the puck away, Tavares was already flying in to tap it home.

Washington will look to have the puck on their side of the zone more in Game 4, as they spent the majority of the game, not including the third period, retreating on defense. Nicklas Backstrom is playing well for the Capitals with four points in the series so far, but the team is still looking to free up Alex Ovechkin, who has only recorded one point thus far. Ovechkin led the NHL in goals during the regular season and was in the top five in points.

Center Eric Fehr did not return after being checked from what is being called an upper-body injury. His status for Game 4 is unknown.
