The Boxing TV Schedule, Featuring Karl Dargan

Look, you can probably tell by the title of this post that it’s not a huge week of boxing (no offence to lightweight prospect Karl Dargan). There are two televised shows left in the week (we were a bit late with the schedule due to public holiday drinking commitments in Australia and missed the Fox Sports show on Monday — sorry), and neither of them are top level. So just sit back and have a laugh at confrontational Showtime interviewer Jim Gray’s best (worst) moments. It’s well worth the 12 minutes and like many of the silly things we use to head the schedule, comes via r/boxing.

  • Karl Dargan Vs. Tony Luis, Friday, ESPN2, Mashantucket Conn. A nice match-up on Friday Night Fights, with Dargan (17-0, 9 KO), a decorated amateur and the nephew of trainer Nazim Richardson, stepping up a level to take on the rugged Luis (18-2, 7 KO). Neither man is a knockout puncher, but Luis is very active and Dargan is fast and accurate, so it should be a fun battle. Expect Dargan’s class to prevail, though.
  • Francisco Rodriguez, Jr. Vs. Jomar Fajardo, Saturday, UniMas, Tuxtla Gutierrez Mexico. The only other televised offering of the week comes from Mexico, with flyweights Rodriguez, Jr. (16-2-1, 11 KO) and Fajardo (14-5-2, 7 KO) in a rematch after their November 2014 war in the Philippines, which ended in a draw. Fajardo’s wild punches might not be enough to sway the judges in Mexico, but it’ll still be fun.
