1. Indiana forced 18 turnovers in a 69 possession game (26%). Last season IU was 167th in the nation, forcing turnovers on 20.2% of opponents possessions. Last year the Hoosiers forced at least a 26% turnover rate against seven opponents, and none in conference play.
2. Point guard Yogi Ferrell is going to be a big part of Indiana's success (or lack thereof) this season. In his first game in a Hoosier uniform he turned the ball over four times in 22 minutes. The 2011-12 assists leader (Jordan Hulls) turned the ball over at least four times in six different games.
3. After sitting out for a season and a half with a torn achilles, junior Maurice Creek saw his first action. Coming off the bench, the IU crowd game him a standing ovation, and then he proceeded to lead the team with 12 points off a very efficient six shots. Indiana coach Tom Crean said, ”I was really excited for Maurice. It was emotional watching the crowd react to him. It wasn’t surprising because it’s Indiana, but you can’t take it for granted. … It’s been a long road, but he’s earned it. He’ll be better for it, and I think you’ve seen he can really help this team.”
4. Indiana only made 5-19 threes (26.3%). Last year's team was second in the nation, making 43.1% against D1 opponents.
5. Indiana Wesleyan got off to a hot start, and led the game 13-4. But after that they were outscored 82-43.
