In the past I’ve highlighted on several occasions what a cesspool Twitter can be. It gives voice to asshats who need attention to send awful, offensive messages directly to young athletes. So it’s only fair that I highlight the other side. And the 2012 NBA draft provided the moment.
Here’s the video. Click through for the reactions:
Bernard James was probably the best interview I did at the NBA Combine out of the 50+ guys: draftexpress.com/profile/Bernar… – Tough not to root for him

Couldn’t be happier for Bernard James. Served our country for six years. Deserves the ovation he is getting. Congrats.

Great moment. Nice ovation here for FSU’s Bernard James, former Iraq war veteran. One of the best stories we’ve had in the draft.

Best moment of the draft. Fans chanting, “USA.USA.” when Bernard James drafted. Very cool!

Wow. That was kind of a goosebump moment hearing the fans chant “USA” while Bernard James stepped to podium #FSU #Cavs #NBADraft

Bernard James was smart to listen to Mama. He didn’t want to go up there for the draft, but she talked him into it. #motherknowsbest

Ham on James: “I’m just so proud of him. … I think we as a staff feel privileged to have coached a young man with such high character.”
