Delly dropping dimes at a (potentially) record pace

I’ve been trying to figure out what the NCAA record is for consecutive assists without a turnover. So far, the longest streak I can find is from Duke’s Jon Scheyer, who ran off 22 straight assists.

The reason I’ve been trying to locate that record is the St. Mary's point guard Matthew Dellavedova just had a game with 10 assists and no turnovers. In the previous game he had 11 assists and no turnovers. He had two turnovers in the game before that, but he finished that game with three straight assists.

So Delly now has 24 assists since his last turnover. Is that a record? I don’t know, but I hope to find out.

While I was searching this, I decided to look at his overall assist-to-turnover figures. As a freshman he was at 2.3:1. In both of the next two seasons that figure was 2.2:1. Now? It’s 2.8:1.

Here’s the chart of his season trend. And bear in mind that this includes a nine (!!) turnover game versus Drake.

If anyone has any tips on longer streaks, please let me know using the contact link at the top of the page.
