Evaluating Coron Williams to Wake Forest

I could be writing an article about Andrew Wiggins, or John Calipari’s dog, or some way-too-early I’m-just-making-shit-up top 25 but I’m not. Instead I’m trolling for hits. Which, of course, means writing about Wake Forest basketball.

I’m sure you already know this. It’s Wake Forest. Of course you do. But in case you’re coming off a bender or just got released, the latest is that the Demon Deacons picked up a 6-2 graduate transfer from Robert Morris and his name is Coron Williams.

I’m not sure if the name Coron is a family name, but it sounds like something from the Periodic Table of Elements, so there’s that. There’s also his game, and since this is a basketball blog, his game is where we’ll go.

Since Jeff Bzdelik took over Wake Forest they’re 11-42 vs ACC opponents. So it’s pretty obvious that they’re just one player away. Is Coron Williams that guy?

Here’s the list of things Coron Williams enjoys doing: 1) shooting 3-pointers, 2) see No. 1.

Last year 70% of his shots were from beyond the arc. And he made 42%. Wake Forest, because they’re awesome, had two guys who made more than 40% of their 3s. One of them – C.J. Harris – graduated. The other – Chase Fischer – did what most young players do under coach Bzdelik: he left the program.

But Coron Williams is a senior-to-be and so he can’t transfer. Suck on that, nine guys who have transferred in the past three years. He’ll play his final season in Winston-Salem or hell be damned. The world will be watching.
