In his next to last regular season game, Saint Mary's Matthew Dellavedova was in midst of one of his special nights. In 27 minutes of play he had 25 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. The problem was that he entered the game just 28 points behind Daniel Kickert as the Gaels all-time leading scorer. And with senior night coming this Saturday against rival Santa Clara coach Randy Bennett didn't want Delly's special moment to come to soon, or to come on the road with just a smattering of Pepperdine fans in attendance. And so he sat him.
It was only the 3rd time since November of his sophomore season that he's played so few minutes (he averages 36 per game) and one of those game was this year's season opener against a Division II team.
Now the Gaels fans are in for a speical treat on Saturday. It will also be senior night for Mitchell Young, Kyle Rowley, and Paul McCoy.
