The Rundown: February 18

Welcome to a busy night of college basketball after last night's entertaining but not that great of a slate. Let's catch up on last night's action very quickly.

North Carolina rallied in the second half to beat Florida State, Baylor threw away an inbounds pass that led to an Oklahoma St 3 to cap regulation but prevailed in OT, conference leaders Delaware and Weber State lost on the road, other conference leaders Davidson, Georgia State, NC Central and Southern all prevailed and Grambling St won it's second game in a row.

7 PM

(9) Villanova at Providence – Fox Sports 1

The Wildcats absolutely destroyed Providence in the first meeting 91-61. This game could look the same because the only team PC has defeated in their last six games is DePaul, who they beat twice. Villanova shot 59.6% in the first meeting and hit 14 of 26, 53.8% from 3. That's good.

South Florida at (11) Louisville – CBS Sports

Louisville won 86-47 in Tampa on January 22. UofL shot 50.8% and hit 12 of 23 from 3. Louisville has destroyed the bottom 5 teams in the American by margins of 48, 24, 15, 17, 39, 39, and 25.

(19) Texas at (17) Iowa State – ESPN2

This looks like the game of the night. Both teams have been rolling lately outside of games where they were murder killed on the road. ISU is 4-1 in February while Texas has won 9 of 10 dating back to January 11. The Longhorns topped ISU earlier in the season with a big second half. Jonathan Holmes had 23 for the game for UT, while Cameron Ridley had 16-11-5 blocks and Javan Felix scored 17. Georges Niang had 18-6 assists and Melvin Ejim 17-10 on a combined 15 of 24 shooting. The rest of the team was 9 of 37.

(18) Kentucky at Ole Miss – ESPN

After dropping both games in a two game swing at Alabama and Georgia, Ole Miss comes home for Kentucky and Florida. If they are a tournament team, they probably have to win one of them because there's nothing in the last 4 that will help much. Kentucky has won their last 3 SEC road games after dropping a pair. Kentucky dropped the Rebels 80-64 two weeks ago. Willie Cauley-Stein went off for 18-11-6 blocks to lead 5 Cats in double figures.

8 PM

(8) Kansas at Texas Tech – ESPN3

These Big 12 squads get each other twice in the next 15 days. Kansas' last 6 Big 12 wins have all been by double figures. In fact, every Kansas game from January 20 to February 15 except the OT game against Kansas State has been decided by double digits. Joel Embiid is expected to play for Kansas.

9 PM

(5) Duke at Georgia Tech – ESPN3

The Blue Devils crazy schedule kicks up with them going for the season sweep at Georgia Tech. Duke blew the Yellow Jackets out 79-57 in early January during the stretch Duke wasn't playing that well. 5 Blue Devils scored in double figures. Rodney Hood popped 27 on 8 of 12, 5 of 7 from 3 and 6-6 at the line.

(14) Virginia at Virginia Tech – ESPN3

The Cavaliers beat the brakes off of Virginia Tech in the first meeting by 20. I wouldn't expect much to change here. The Hokies slashed 33.3% / 16.7% / 56%. Malcolm Brogdon went for 18 and Joe Harris 12 for the Hoos.

(15) Iowa at Indiana – ESPN

The Hawkeyes could get themselves a game back in the Big 10 race if they can win at Assembly Hall. IU has lost 6 of 8 with the wins being the seemingly big win over Michigan and a win over hapless Illinois. IU has lost 3 in a row. Iowa has won back to back games and 3 of 4 overall. This is the only meeting between the schools this season.

11 PM

Utah State at (6) San Diego St – ESPNU

The Aztecs haven't been wildly impressive lately, but they get a national audience to show their stuff. Utah State had a 3 game win streak broken against UNLV over the weekend. The first meeting between the schools went into overtime. Xavier Thames scored 10 points of his game his 31 in the overtime period. Utah State shot really well at 52.7% / 50% but only went 2 of 7 from the foul line and turned the ball over 17 times.

ON TV

7 PM

NC State at Clemson – ESPNU

George Washington at Richmond – NBC Sports

The Spiders have a chance to move into a second place tie with VCU in the A-10. They've won 3 in a row after back to back losses to St Louis and VCU. GW is coming off a 2 game losing streak against VCU and UMass. They have a Richmond and St Louis trip before closing out with no big wins, sorry St Joe's, on the table so this game is huge.

9 PM

Butler at St John's – Fox Sports 1

Don't look now but the Red Storm are 7-6 in the Big East. They ripped Butler by 17 holding the Bulldogs to 18 second half points. Jakarr Sampson put up 20-7 in the win.

Georgia at Tennessee – ESPNU

Fresno St at Wyoming – Root

i think most people would consider Tennessee and Wyoming fringe bubble teams. Getting wins at home would be good for them.
