Virginia Extends Tony Bennett

Fresh off an ACC title and a #1 seed in the NCAA tournament, Virginia has given Head Coach Tony Bennett a new 7 year extension. He’s now currently signed through the 2020-21 season and will be making just under $2 million per year. Reports further stated that Bennett likely turned down a higher salary to help his assistants get raises.

Before coming to Virginia, Bennett turned around the Washington State program, wining 69 games and making two NCAA tournament appearances in three years. At UVA, he’s turned a perennial ACC underachiever into a program that’s made the NCAA tournament in 2 of the last 3 years. He’s won 106 games in 5 years at the program.
